Classroom Visits

Mentors are welcome to arrange visits to student classrooms throughout the state. Because each student team is engaged in a long-term, project-based challenge, visits are most effective when preceded by a brief conversation with the classroom teacher, so that the mentor can prepare some answers in advance. In most cases, students will have specific questions related to practical work on their projects. Suggested activities include: brief presentations by mentors on their own professional expertise followed by student questions; receiving student questions in advance of the visit and offering possible answers/solutions/suggestions during the presentation; joining a regularly scheduled student “department” meeting to provide multiple, 5–10 minute consultations to individual working groups of 3–5 students.
