About The Program

CCC is an initiative focused on the development of curriculum aligned with both industry and state standards that can be adapted to any type of school within the state. CCC, with support from all the regional educational service centers, CCC partners, and other resources, has developed industry standards-based curriculum and experiential learning opportunities that are the groundwork for a workforce ready to meet the demands of 21st century careers.

The first three years CCC focused on information technology careers. The National Workforce Center for Emerging Technologies (NWCET) identified industry-based skill standards for information technology careers. With guidance from Education Connection, CCC applied the NWCET standards to existing and proposed information technology curriculum in the first ten pilot sites. Pilot sites brought on in year three focused on health and medical careers. Standards developed by the National Consortium on Health Science and Technology Education will be applied to curriculum being developed by collaborative groups among the pilot sites for a HMC sequence that will then be piloted and eventually available to all schools.

In addition to curriculum development, experiential learning programs are being set up through Battelle's Technology Practice. Industry interactions include: classroom visits/speakers, company visits/tours, job shadowing experiences for students, teacher externships, and a Tech Expo will take place in May.
